Recently, URA and UNBS have announced that a few documents will be added to the manditory list of documentation when clearing and registering used motor vehicles at all entry points and Customs bonded warehouses.
Up until now, if you did not receive a road worthiness certificate for your vehicle when importing the vehicle, you would be charged 15% of the total CIF price when clearing customs. But as of October 1st, 2015, things will be quite different. You will no longer be able to import your car without that road worthiness certificate.
As of October 1st, 2015 the PVOC Certificate of Road Worthiness, or UNBS Imports Clearance Certificate will be required when clearing your vehicle from customs. And if this documentation has not been provided with the Customs Clearance application packet, Customs Clearance will not be processed beyond the documentation check.
So make sure you get that pre-shipping inspection to save a whole bunch of headache!
